Knowing that we can be loved exactly as we are gives us all the best opportunity for growing into the healthiest of people.
— Mr. Rogers
My name is Marsh Cooper and I am focused on supporting you in your mental health goals.
I grew up in Vancouver, Canada and have been living in Finland for the last ten years. I have a Master’s in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University and hold a Bachelor of Social Work from the University of Victoria. Both are universities located in Canada. I am a native English speaker that has clinical experience working with both individuals and couples from different backgrounds.
My previous careers are diverse and include competing as a professional cyclist in which I represented Canada at many international cycling events. I also have worked at Poikien Talo (Boys’ House) where I supported young men and boys in various group activities.
It’s important to note that while I have a Masters degree in counselling psychology from a nationally recognized Canadian university in Finland I am not a registered psychologist and am doing therapy, not psychotherapy. For any questions about this or anything else related to my education please be in touch.
Integrative Style
Through my Masters of Counselling Psychology and my own professional development, I am familiar with a wide range of scientifically supported modalities of therapy in which I individually tailor my approach to meet your needs and goals.
When we work together my aim is to be genuine and focused on your experience. I will offer support while also highlighting contradictions or ‘stuck points’ that may be negatively affecting your life.

IFS is focused on assisting individuals in developing new relationships with all parts of who they are. Sometimes there are parts of us that act out, perhaps drink too much or lash out in anger. Yet, when we slow down and meet these parts with curiosity and kindness we often find they have a positive intention.

Science tells us that so much of our emotional experience is stored in our body. Thats why taking a moment to breathe, check in with one’s body and reflect on that experience can offer relief. Along the way a new manner of understanding the brain-body connection is created.

Some of us have lived through unimaginable experiences that have left a scar in our lives. In these cases building points of safety and then very slowly exploring the legacy of these experiences is emphasised.

CBT aims to assist in developing an understanding of the connection between one’s thoughts, behaviours and actions. By working on one of these three areas a positive change in all areas of one’s life is expected. I use CBT to help set life goals and gain a deeper understanding of challenges to meeting them.
